i was in my nightclothes and had only just gotten up, or i would have answered.
I would just keep avoiding them. It's working for me. It can be nerve wrecking, but on the other hand you have the satisfaction of knowing how hard you are making them work. If they get lazy they may give up.
I tried that for quite a while, and yes, nerve wracking it can be. Plus, it depends on the elders. If they are really ambitious, they'll hunt a person down wherever they are. BUT it can work, after awhile, some elders just give up. meagan

da yourself and send a copy of your da letter to every witness you know (or can reasonably afford)
Include all the damaging letters to the boe, the un stuff, etc.
GO to the kh and take the letters with you and approach everyone you can Before the meeting starts to tell them individually that you are formally leaving the witnesses and hand them the letter before they know what hit them and then go to someone else. (the elders might throw ya out tho )
at the beginning of the meeting that you'll be announced put your copy of the da letter on all the cars.
go to all the homes in the area (I don't know if you're in a city, suburbs or rural) and give them anti witness lit and explain shortly the child abuse problem

there was a family that i knew growing up, when my dad died, and our family was going through some problems, the dad,an elder in the hall, was the only one that went out of his way to take me under his wing and treat me like his daughter.
really nice guy.. anyone have any good experiences?.
It helps me remember that, while I get angry now and then, there were and are, some really good people in the Org.
Those same people might be lurkers here. If not now, maybe tomorrow or someday.

to say something that will stick in their head and make them really think.
because you know, that once they realize you are an apostate, they will shut down anything else that you have to say.. what do you say?.

long story short -- my father-in-law and uncle-in-law came today to buy some appliances from a friend of ours.
while my father-in-law seemed willing to stretch the "necessary family business" clause to its limits to talk and joke and be basically human, my uncle was cold as a witch's dead penguin.
if i said anything to him related to the task at hand, he answered as minimally as possible.
Funny the things we end up celebrating.

i lose the dub look.. in comes experimental hair color.. bleach blond with red.
soon a pierced nose.. a few years ago i did ruby highlights on black and my sister outright said it was too punky and the elders would more than likely take away my privileges.. this is my way of "stickin' it to the man" (ok, i got that from the sprint commercial, but it sounds good.. my husband loves it.
i started the process last night, but my hair is so dark, it's taking 2 days.. it should be interesting running into people from ye ol' hall.. .

Hellrider, I will definitely take that into serious consideration. Having a white scar on my nose doesn’t sound very appealing.
Ok, update on hair:
I have it to a pretty even strawberry blonde. I’m quitting for the night. Too tired to care.
I’ll start again tomorrow.
Hair is holding up really well. Not seeing any breakage or clumps of hair on floor.
Going for a beer and putting kids down.

as jws were you willing to attend meetings even in cases of difficulty such as bad weather, if it was really cold, rainy, snowy, or if you didn't feel really well, or if you had to spend a lot of time to get there by car or public transport?

When my dad first passed away and I lived about 20-25minutes from my mom, I drove out to her (which eventually ended up being mine anyway) hall for all the meetings, and field service and then just to hang with her.
Despite the weather or what not.
Then after I got pregnant we moved back that direction and despite the weather I was there with my daughter.
Then after I got pregnant and had my second child, I started to burn out. Nap times weren’t working with the cong schedule. I remember being in tears, I was so afraid that we would die in The Big A.
I spent countless nights being depressed because I just couldn’t make it.
My husband kept telling me, “GOD understands.”

this year was going to be the first time in my life that i did not attend the memorial.
but i just thought of something that i would love to try out for a stir.
